150th Anniversary Concert

NASUWT Riverside Band celebrate their 150th Anniversary Concert – Brass at it’s Best – with special guests The Black Dyke Band and guest soloist Euphonium Virtuoso David Childs. The concert will be conducted by Professor Nicholas Childs and Richard Marshall.
Formed in 1875 in the former mining village of Pelton Fell, today the band still has a busy diary of engagements all across the UK. In recent years, the band has been a principal performer at the Durham International Brass Festival including a key role in the internationally renowned Miners Hymns performances in 2010 and 2014. In 2023 the band performed with Richard Hawley in Durham Cathedral and has been a major advocate of diverse music for brass bands. In 2024 they again performed in Durham Cathedral with Public Service Broadcasting, a concert which was awarded the North East Culture award for Best Performance in 2024.
Also performing will be the Black Dyke Band – the most successful contesting band in the world, having won the European Championships thirteen times, the British Open no fewer than 30 times, and the National Championships of Great Britain 24 times. The band is also the most recorded band in the world with over 350 recordings and growing every year.
