From the shadow of Hadrian’s Wall in the north east of England, Kathryn Tickell & The Darkening reach out to the wider world, connecting threads of music, landscape and people over almost 2000 years. Named after the old Northumbrian word for twilight, The Darkening is: Kathryn Tickell (Northumbrian smallpipes, fiddle, vocals), Amy Thatcher (accordion, clogs, synth, vocals), Kieran Szifris (octave mandolin), Joe Truswell (drums), and Stef Conner (vocals, lyres).
