In line with the 20th anniversary of Durham Brass Festival, we'll be screening Mark Herman's award-winning comedy Brassed Off starring Ewan McGregor, Pete Postlethwaite and Tara Fitzgerald.
Filmed entirely on location in Yorkshire and celebrating it's 30th year since the film's release, Brassed Off is the story of a community struggling to survive when its chief industry is closed down.
Personal and public dramas reveal the extraordinary resilience of the people and the instinct for survival which keeps their spirits up in the face of hardship. It is also a romance between father and son, between boy and girl and between man and music.
Tickets: £7
As part of our work to make Gala Durham as accessible as possible for all, audio description headsets will be offered on every film screening for those who are visually impaired.
You may also be interested in seeing the world-famous Grimethorpe Colliery Band, who provided the iconic brass soundtrack for Brassed Off, at Gala Durham as part of Durham Brass Festival on Sunday 19 July. Find out more and book tickets here
