Gala Durham is situated on the banks of the river Wear in the heart of Durham.
By car
Durham is served by an excellent road network. The A1/A1(M) motorway provides fast, easy access from both the North and South – come off at junction 62 and follow the A690 into the city centre. Gala Theatre is clearly signposted. If coming from the north, Durham can also be accessed via the A68 and A691 – just follow the signs to the city centre.
Car parking
Walkergate multi-storey car park (DH1 1SQ) is located 30 seconds walk from Gala Theatre, and is easily reached via the slip road under Milburngate bridge or via Freeman Place. Prince Bishops multi-storey (DH1 3UJ) car park is a five minute walk away from the Gala Theatre. Please allow plenty of time for parking as car parks can be busy in the evening.
By bus
With regular bus services to the city centre from surrounding areas, Gala Theatre can be easily reached by public transport. You can use Traveline North East and Cumbria to help you plan your journey.
By rail
Gala Theatre is a 10 minute walk from Durham Station, which is serviced regularly from both north and south on the East Coast mainline service. From the station, follow signs for the City Centre. After crossing Milburngate bridge follow the road up to the left and turn left just before the library building. The Gala Theatre is straight in front of you.
By bike
The nearest parking facilities are opposite Gala Durham, just outside Clayport Library.
