Seating and pricing
For Gala Durham Productions and some other shows, our auditorium will be split into different price bands with a range of prices based on where we feel the optimum experience will be. We believe there should be accessible priced tickets for all, so by booking early, you can secure the best price.
We love having the front of the auditorium full for every show. To ensure the best experience for our audiences and actors, some seats are not offered for sale until seats towards the front of the theatre are sold.
We are committed to working with our promoters to provide Gala Members with priority booking to ensure that they have access to the cheapest tickets before anyone else. Find out more and sign-up to our membership scheme here.
Bookings can be made in person at the Box Office, by telephone, or through this website. Please note, tickets booked online, or by telephone include a £2 transaction charge.
Disability access and essential companion bookings
If you require an essential companion to attend our theatre or cinema due to a disability, illness, or other condition, you are entitled to a free companion ticket with our disability access seats always set at the lowest available price. You can book disability access seats by contacting our Box Office on 03000 266 600 or in-person at Gala Durham.
Qualifying documentation for essential companions must be provided upon your first booking (existing customers to provide qualifying documentation on next visit after 28 January 2026) which can then be added to your account. This ensures our staff are aware of the requirement when tickets are booked, meaning you will not need to present documentation on each visit.
We will accept the following qualifying documentation:
- Access card
- CEA card
- A disability badge
If you do not have access to any of the qualifying documentation listed, but believe you require an essential companion ticket to attend our venue, please contact our Box Office Manager on 03000 266 600 to discuss your circumstance.
Both Access and CEA cards can be ordered via the following links:
Group reservations
We can reserve group bookings of 10 or more. These reservations must be paid at least two months before the show. If you wish to make a group reservation, please email us at groupbookings@durham.gov.uk or contact our Group Sales Co-ordinator on 03000 264 169.
Concessions
We offer concessionary tickets for selected events – please check at time of booking, and proof may be required upon ticket collection. Only one concession applies.
Family Friendly
Gala Durham aspires to make all of our customers welcome, no matter how small, and we really hope that our younger visitors become regulars at our theatre and cinema. In consideration of our audience and performers, we just ask that those under the age of three are only admitted to shows aimed at the very young. If in doubt, you can check with Box Office. For those under one year old, babes-in-arms tickets are available for selected shows.
Payment Methods
We accept all major credit and debit cards (except American Express), cash (in person only), cheque (with a valid cheque card), and Gala Durham Gift Vouchers.
Gift Vouchers
We sell our own Gala Durham Gift Vouchers redeemable on any of our screenings or live performances, and available in any value. Buy for friends or family, by simply clicking below to add these to your basket.
Your Tickets
To help us do our bit for the environment, we would love you to use our eticketing option. We send the tickets directly to your inbox, and you present the tickets to our staff on your mobile phone. But should you need to, the etickets can also be printed off, or you can collect your tickets from Box Office.
Refunds and exchanges
You can exchange your tickets for another performance up to 48 hours before the show you have booked if you are no longer able to attend the performance or film and your booking is not greater than ten tickets for a fee of £1 per ticket. Unless an event is cancelled, all tickets are non-refundable.
For groups over ten people, tickets are non-refundable or exchangeable.
