Presented as part of Durham Book Festival
There’s no denying it – the world feels heavy right now and the news feels relentless. Rights are being rolled back across the globe, and the UN says gender equality is still 134 years away. It’s easy to feel hopeless – but WOW – Women of the World believes there’s still much to celebrate.
Fresh from its Edinburgh Fringe run, join WOW Founder Jude Kelly for powerful stories and bold conversations as The WOW Show tours the North East, taking a fresh look at feminism today with very special guests. At this event, Jude welcomes the brilliant comedian and writer Shaparak “Shappi” Khorsandi, bringing her trademark wit and fearless honesty to the stage. Together, they’ll also shine a spotlight on a local hero nominated by the community – someone making an extraordinary difference close to home. Nominate your local heroes here.
There’ll be big ideas, unforgettable stories, and interactive moments where you shape the conversation. From money to sex, housing to public transport, raising boys to ageing – this is a space to rage, laugh, share and celebrate together.
For 15 years, WOW has brought millions together across six continents to celebrate women, girls and non-binary people, inspiring change with humour, energy and passion.
Grab your friends and family – this evening is for everyone.
The WOW Show is presented by S&DR200 and WOW – Women of the World, in association with ESK.
S&DR200 events are delivered by Darlington Borough Council, Durham County Council and Stockton-on Tees Borough Council, with support from North East Combined Authority.
