Presented by Durham Book Festival
The Poetry Book Society presents three award-winning poets featured in their prestigious Autumn 2026 recommendations list.
In her debut collection, Belling the Leopard, Clementine Ewokolo Burnley’s poetry asks what remains after once-familiar places and people are gone, looking at migration and community from Africa to Europe. Now based in Edinburgh, Clementine Ewokolo Burnley grew up in Victoria, Cameroon, and has lived between Scotland, Italy and Germany for many years. She was joint winner of the James Berry Poetry Prize in 2024.
Sheffield-based writer Helen Mort explores fairytales and modern blended families in her latest poetry collection, STEPMOTHER. Helen has published three previous poetry collections, including Division Street, which won the Fenton Aldeburgh First Collection Prize. Her work has previously been shortlisted for the Forward Prize and T.S. Eliot Prize.
Padraig Regan’s latest collection, The Matter, reflects on mortality and desire. Padraig received the Clarissa Luard Award for their debut collection, Some Integrity, in 2022, and was shortlisted for the Forward Prize for Best First Collection. They were a Fellow Commoner in Creative Arts at Trinity College Cambridge from 2022 to 2024.
