Presented as part of Durham Book Festival
Mary Portas’ new memoir, I Shop, Therefore I Am, is set against the backdrop of 90s Cool Britannia. Charting how she revolutionised the department store Harvey Nichols. Using her razor-sharp business instinct and creativity she transformed it into the epicentre of London fashion!
Mary is in conversation with another of fashion’s most influential figures, Jane Shepherdson, who similarly turned around the fortunes of Topshop, became Chief Executive of Whistles and is now Director of London Fashion Fund and a Smart Works trustee.
This event supports Smart Works Newcastle a charity dedicated to empowering all women in the North East who need help getting into work through high quality interview clothing and 1-1 coaching.
We welcome attendees to bring one item of clothing to donate to Smart Works.
