Vasilis Xenopoulos and Paul Edis
Saxophonist Vasilis Xenopoulos “a tremendous asset to the UK jazz scene” (Andy Boeckstaens, LondonJazzNews) and pianist Paul Edis ‘a significant new voice in British Jazz’ (Brian Morton, Jazz Journal) first met whilst studying at music college in London over 15 years ago. Both are in high demand as sidemen, leading their own projects and touring the UK, but they still find time to perform regularly as a duo.
In 2016 they released the album A Narrow Escape to critical acclaim “a fine example of jazz as a conversation, of communication born of mutual respect and countless gigs together…a late contender for album of the year.” (Russell Corbett, Bebop Spoken Here).
They love to perform music from the Great American Songbook (Cole Porter, George Gershwin, Jerome Kern, Richard Rodgers etc) alongside original compositions rooted in the straight ahead jazz and swing tradition.
